    Calling all bushcrafters in Surrey

I will be moving to Godalming in Surrey in September and I would like to hook up with any bushcrafters in the area. I know there are a couple of good bushcraft schools in that area, but I also want to meet up with like-minded bushcrafting folk. Wildlife watching, foraging or just bivying...

    Song Thrush

One of the things that always gladens my heart at this time of year is when the song thrushes begin singing again. They always seem to start early on in the year. However, one of the things I have noticed, and I am wondering if it is just me, is that song thrushes sing louder and higher in...

    Food dehydrators

The latest edition of Summit (the British Mountaineering Council's magazine) has been singing the praises of the Excalibur range of food dehydrators. Do they have any advantages over other makes such as Ezidri or even over doing it yourself with low-set oven?

    Sika Deer

I live in Arne in Dorset and we have a LOT of sika deer. Just recently I have noticed a lot of tufts of deer hair (I think) around. If this is due to moulting then it doesn't make any sense as winter isn't over, and according to what I have read about sika they don't moult until about April...

    Another squirrel question

Is there a particular technique to skinning a squirrel? I tried it for the first time the other day and the little perisher did not want to lose his fir. I was pulling like anything to get the skin to come away from the flesh. Rabbit is so much easier.

    Greetings from the Fen country

Hello All, Just registered so I thought I would drop by and say hello. I currently live in Ely in Cambridgeshire, but I'm quitting the rat race in a couple of weeks time and moving to Dorset where I will spend a year working as a volunteer warden on a nature reserve. I would like to join...
