hi all im after a bit of info i have some wood which i tryed to season for 12 months but all seems to have split of cracked am i doing something wrong or is there a trick or two to make life easer any and all info would be gratefuly recived

can anyone help had a small peace of ash which when i took the bark off had 2 splits in can it be used for eating utensels now i need to get another peace for an axe handel which is very anoying
