Small Polly Cotton Tipi Style Tent

Hi, I'm a little bothered about having it in the tent. Especially with my pooch around, I'd have to suspend it quite high up, it would have to have an efficient heat deflector on top. Guess I could make one, you got me thinking ... Cheers! Which one are you using, in what temperature have you...

Small Polly Cotton Tipi Style Tent

Hi all, Not been here for a while. I'm going to be getting out this winter and will of course be getting a good fire going. My Shangrila is great when you don't need a big fire but I'm a bit concerned about Sil-Nylon when I got a good winter fire going. Can anyone suggest a similar size (or...

    Decent solo lightweight tent advice.

Oh yes, I use a DD in the woods :) I used to have one of those in your pic! I thought about it but there may be no tree availability where we stop. Yes I could plonk it on the floor but it's just to much of a fiddle especially if I can't find suitable sticks to lift the net or pitch the tarp...

    Decent solo lightweight tent advice.

Yes thats a nice little tent, a bit lighter than the Pro Action. If he's not happy with the Argos PA I might sugest that. Cheers! That does look very nice, the only drawback is the weight, be great for shorter trips. The Hubba has a great reputation, never been in one myself but I did...

    Connecting two treking poles.

I like the Hazel idea but I can't be sure I'll have that resource available every time I stop. I'll make something to do the job no doubt. Cheers!

    Connecting two treking poles.

Anyone know where I can get or who makes something to connect two trekking poles together? So I can leave my Shangri-La 3 centre pole at home .... saving me 390g I know Black Diamond do something ( A webbing strap, doubled at the ends to form cups which hold the handles, then has velcro...

Must say I prefer that colour. Thanks for the confidence boost. I'm sure he will be happy with it. Cheers!

    Decent solo lightweight tent advice.

I prefer that but it only has a 1500 floor, seems low to me. Coulduse lightweight spinn fab ground sheet though and still weigh less than the Pro Action. Low head room also, errm not sure. I'll think on that, cheers!

    Decent solo lightweight tent advice.

Looks a very taut pitch. ... Nice looking tent. Even heavier mind you. He's made his choice now, I'll see what he thinks when he calls tomorrow.

    Decent solo lightweight tent advice.

Thank you guys, Just spoke to him and he's reserved a Pro Action at his local Argos. I hate that orange, arrrh .. ... I'd soon have it covered with leaves ;) I'll park my Shangri-La in the next valley and wear sunglases when I'm close! Must admit I'd go for the Vango 100 but he may never...

    Decent solo lightweight tent advice.

My son was going to bunk with me on our Coast to Coast walk but now he's decided against that and fancy's his own tent ......... No doubt away from mine and Toby's (Collie cross) snoring :) He wants to spend 60-70'ish. Needs to be 1.5kg or below, netted and stable (No pop ups, I hate them!!)...

Shangri La 3 plus Serenity Nets

Thank you, Yes I did consider the midge count in September would be low. I do like a net around me though and likewise my son. He is now considering buying a lightweight tent ... Wonder if it's to do with Mine and Toby's snoring :) Funny, when I make my own shelters I'm not that bothered...

Shangri La 3 plus Serenity Nets

Hi all long time no post. I'm going to have a go at the Wainrights Coast to Coast in late September. I was doing it solo but now my Son has decided it might be nice to come along. A pack shared is a pack halved plus it will be nice to have him along of course. Any how I was going to do it...

    Mapping Hand Held Gps

Now don't go shouting at me, I can navigate using a map!! I'm also getting into Geochaching. I have an old Garmin12 but fancy a new toy ;) I thought it might be nice to get one that can take/use high detail topo maps like OS. I see that Garmin have got together with OS and produced Garmin...

New DD Hammock & Lightweight tarp

Ok thank you for those responses, I'm reassured :) No I did not contact DD about the stitching holes, I don't see those giving a problem at all. The needle has no doubt just seperated the fibres not cut them, a smear of Silnet will cure any possible dripping. It just raised doubts about...

New DD Hammock & Lightweight tarp

I've recently bought the above. I know DD stuff is well thought of but I'm just wondering how people have got on with the tarp in particular. When the Hammock arrived I checked it out and spent a night in it. Nice, roomy and quite comfortable and will be great in warmer weather. The hammock...

    DD Hamock or Claytor Jungle??

Hi, I've owned both, along with a Clark (very expensive), one similar to the Nomad XXL, an evilbay one (can't rember which one but there was a lovely Tai lady advertising it :) and an HH exped. I found the Claytor (Camo) very good, well made and tough. It was a tad tight around the shoulders...
