    Frost River Packs???

I'm a big fan of traditional canvas packs - Duluth make excellent kit, and I'm a big fan. I'm not, however familiar with Frost River. Are they of the same company? Do they use similar materials? Any opinions/ experience of this brand would be much appreciated. There's a 'nesmuk pack' on...

    Footwear Soleing

I have a couple of boots that will both soon need resoling - as they could still live for the rest of my lifetime. One pair rubber and the other leather. Can anyone recommend a good cobbler for this? I know Timpsons would be the first on everyones minds, but the quality of their soleing is...

    Folding Gore-Tex

I know, for example you shouldn't fold your bivi bag, as the creases, over time can damage the gore-tex, loosing its waterproofness - does the same go for gore-tex jackets??? Can I fold my jacket and put it in my bag, or should I just screw it up into a big ball and force it in!!!!?:D

What % commission should shops charge?

I sell leathergoods at a craft type shop/ gallery. Their going rate is 45% (to them) - so not great if your trying to make a living out of your work, but as a hobby it can be quite satisfying when you do sell something.

    Wetterlings Axe Review

I bought this axe at the KNIVESUK show in Bristol a few months back. Its called the 'Hunters' axe - similar to Gransfor Wildlife Hatchet - but cheaper which is a bonus. Its your standard axe really; hickory wood helve, forged steel head. Overall its 12 ½" long, with a 2.75" face - so in...

    Paul Baker Knife Review

Hi Jedadiah, yeah this knife is also has a 4mm thick blade. Not brilliant for carving, as its pretty thick and can seen quite cumbersome, but excellent for splitting and heavy duty jobs - a great general cutting tool. It will just take a little getting used to I guess.

    Paul Baker Knife Review

Absolutley, Paul is a top bloke, a friend to everyone who meets him. He truly is passionate about what he does - when I popped round to collect the knife, he showed me pretty much every other project he had going - really easy to talk to, like you've known him for years.

I bought this knife after seeing it at the KNIVESUK show in Bristol. I purchased it and collected it from Pauls workshop in Stroud. I've had it a while now so heres a small review. *- Photo's are in Image Shack - you'll see a bigger and better quality pic. Can you believe I took these photo's...

    Sharpening technique

How do you guys like to sharpen your knives? Back and forth, side to side or in circulars motions. I've only got a DC4 (quite small) so have always sharpened in circular motions, which works very well but the balde metal doesn't exactly stay looking neat. You go...
