I played the Artful Dodger in a school production of Oliver! back when I were a lad and, following a suggestion from one of my teachers that I was method acting, it stuck.

I think that one of the reasons behind this is that a TV programme like this has to appeal to a wide enough audience for a broadcaster to be prepared to fund and schedule it. Ray could make an instructional video on 15 different methods of firelighting but I doubt it would be very popular beyond...

Hmmm... That's a good idea! I like reading and I'll often pick up something to read locally to where I'm, staying - e.g. I picked up a copy of Coyote Stories by Mourning Dove in a New Age/hippy store in Joshua Tree before I headed into the National Park last year. There's nothing like reading...

That's what I think too. My understanding was that the name "denim" comes from "serge de Nimes", Nimes being a town in France where the cloth was made and exported from.
