first ever carving. well except a spoon

i revently bought a carving knife, i thought something for my beloved nan for christmas eould be nice. So here it is, a letter opener. I wanted to do more detail and carve 'nan' on 3 hearts. But one broke off so syuck with a basic design. Thanks for looking.

Its just basswood. a friend very kindly shut by boot on a paddle and split the blade. i decided to use it fir carving. I going to try to do some fish with the blade. Hopefully anyway, like a say its me first carving so see how it goes. Thanks for the positive feedback.
