I've had a naafi 2 blade knife, and the older version both good heavy duty folders, and I now have and use the locking safety knife, I think a 2001 issue

I’m glad they have a useful tool now, what did they use 25 years ago?

Quick check on Google and there is an Newspaper article announcing that the Prison Service were to be issued with them in 2006, so I’m making the massive assumption that 25 years ago, when my brother asked me to swap, the Police weren’t issued anything and the MoD knife which is easy to open and doesn’t have an obvious point was probably the best available at the time.

But as I said, I’ve never worked in Custody or a prison so I don’t know what kit they were issued or had available.

there
So does anyone know the story behind these knives and who they were issued to?
I remember playing with my dad's one as a child (he did national service in the RAF and joined the T.A. RCT) but I never saw one during my 4 years in the Army in the second half of the '90's. I just assumed that they were no more while I was in, but the op suggests differently.

I was in 80’s early 90’s and they were still around/ issued, just had to ask stores for one or be given work in the stores for day and acquire one:)
