Thought i'd post up my hennessy knowledge, a lot of this can be used with other hammocks as well but its mainly hennessy vids that ive done on hammock forums. All of these videos are done using the explorer deluxe asym, standard diamond tarp, snake skins size 4, standard tree huggers and the garda hitch which is not standard.

Hennessy Hammock 101's:

Ultra fast set up with the garda hitch:

Large tree problem looked at, using a rapel ring to fix the issue:

Various large tree knots and methods looked at:

Cracking set up technique. I thought the split rope method was fast, but that is very good, especially after a hard days trek through a rainforest. Means carrying more with the karibiners and stuff though, which would wreck my resolution of carrying less.

it does add weight yes. however, i usually have carabiners for river crossings and steep ground, so its not adding masses to my overall kit. you can use rap rings as replacements for figure 8's on a descent but i still carry an 8 anyway to be honest.... rap rings also help when doing a pulley system....

what it really comes down to for me is your first point, its super fast..... if anything stretches or it lowers in the night, you can get out, pull the quick release and tighten it up.... it also means that you cant over tighten it... hennessys tend to sag more, the more you tighten it... i.e if you have it super tight it will sag loads....

this also means you can set it up at night if needs must....

it really is a weight/convenience balance...

Welcome and once again great vids.

Just about to watch the first one again to get the names of the company's who do the rings and clips so I can source some.

i dont think it says in the 101 video... only where i bought the hammock, it does say at the end of the ultra fast set up with garda hitch video....

used to something similar with absiel rings but now find it quicker and lighter to leave a loop in 1 end of the tape -put around the tree a couple of times then marlin spike hitch on the tape around a crab (takes nearly 2 seconds to tie) then just clip the hammock in.

But what if your tape wasn't long enough?
