Ludlow and in the wild
Hi folks,

i recently started a new job, at a luxury dog kennels and rare breeds farm. i am now walking between 15 and 25 miles per day and have noticed that my boots (which i have had for several years) are starting now to pinch my toes to the point that my little toe is getting squashed under the next one causing all manner of blisters and sores.
I've never had a problem before but can anybody recommend any decent boots that have a wide fitting around the toe section and have a good quality insole, but are light and v breathable as i am wearing them for 12hr days.
Cheers for any suggestions or advice

My feet are slightly wider than the norm, and i to spend a lot of time on my feet as a dog handler. As a uniform boot, i wear either altbergs, or as i currently also wear a pair of wide fitting matterhorns, which are slightly wider than the altbergs.
As a walking boot i wear meindls which are more genorous in the toe box. Also have a look at the hitec v-lite range, i also have a pair of these, and they are a generous fit.

Hope this is of help,

Rob

Not tried them myself, but the wife has a wide fitting and say her Merrell Aqua shoes (it's a walking shoe!) weigh nothing and are the MOST comfortable shoe she has ever worn.

I've been using some Oakley 6" SI assault boots which I got from UK tactical. they're quite light, very very comfortable and wide fitting (which I usually have problem finding)
I have been practically living in them for 18 months, which is amazing in itself, as I'm pretty (very) hard on footwear, with very little wear showing.

BTW I am the last person in the world that would recommend anything by Oakley but these have really impressed me.

In a shop over here in holland. They said that Meindls are the boot to go for wide feet.
So i bought a pair of Meindls Islands Pro there were the widest and fit my foot well.

i'll go along with that, they were the only boot that fit my hobbit feet and they do them in half sizes as well.

Many thanks for all your recommendations folks.
Off to field and trek tommorow (they have a sale on).
I already have a pair of meindl borneos and even they are feeling tight around the toes now. I reckon my feet have changed shape.
I used to wear KSBs years ago, which were like foot gloves and lasted for years (inc 2 years guiding on glaciers), but i don't know what the new models are like.
Cheers

I also had Borneos on and they were to tight for me. But the Island pros were even wider.

Anyway find a boot that fits you best. I even wear them in the shop with socks and without socks to get they stress points.

After a good few hours trying on every pair the shop had, i eventually found a pair that were wide enough. Brasher hillmasters, apparantly, they are made on a british last whereas most others are made on an italian last, which is narrower. Anyway, back to work tommorrow, so that will be the big test.
Cheers
