a helle fire?
i am not actually asking anyone to do it but i was wondering because they dont seem that expensive really to me compared to wood lores especially because of their combination of stainless and carbon steel when wood lores are (i think) just 01 tool steel. so could a convincingly similar knife be created from 01 tool steel and be cheaper?

because Helle's are factory made production stick tang knives, the woodlore is a high end handmade knife, blessed with the power of Ray!

the core steel in helle's is sandvik 12c27, this is a surcical stainless steel, its good at holding an edge, but not as good or easy to sharpen as O1.

probably cost the sam in materials to make, but the difference is of course the manufacturing process and the "bushcraft points" you get for having mearsys name on your blade.

tbh id take an O1 blade over an laminated hell'e blade any day, lamination have no distinct advantage.

As a Surgical stainless, 12c27 is good enough for surgeons scalpels so you should be able to get a good edge on it.(I can)
It is also less prone to rusting if you get it wet.
