Wayland

It's that time of year again.

Schools have all gone nativity play crazy, my bookings go through the floor at this time of year, so it's time to catch up on a years worth of paper work and do the accounts.

The sun is shining, Skadi is mythering for another walk and I'm stuck behind a desk shuffling paper.

I guess this is what it's like to have a desk job but it drives me crazy.

Any tips for staying focused on this sort of stuff? I hate paperwork.

Try turning off your internet and sit in a room without windows to the outside...

Tried that, it was even worse. I'm playing music on the comp and I check in here as a reward for finishing a section of the accounts.

How is the leg in this damp weather Wayland?

It's not bad but it does seize up if I'm sat in one spot for a while, like behind a desk.

I'd forgotten I'd even mentioned it, just getting old I guess.

Some music and very few distractions should do it Gary, maybe have a break every couple of hours too. It might be good to take a short walk for lunch.

I'm not the only one then it seems. This month is very tedious.

I stay focused best if I start early in the morning refusing to check emails, BCUK etc.

Then I relent mid morning and start surfing and reading posts.

When I finish a particularly loathsome task, I go out for a bimble in the forest.

Good luck Wayland

Set lots of short targets - no more than 15 to 20minutes work without a break. Take about 5 minutes off each time you achieve your target - stretch your legs, make brew & RELAX, it will all be over soon!

Me too  I look forward to the calm to be honest. Time to unwind  , catch up with friends :D , sort out kit and the house :) , and clear the paperwork :sigh:

How about a Holly King persona, Gary. Telling traditional myths and stories associated with the season ? Holly, Ivy and mistletoe, the pine trees and the Yule log ?

Of course you could be planning your next jaunt away ;)

Paperwork, I do it in chunks. Finish one month, go and do something else for a bit. Come back and do the next. Feels absolutely brilliant when it's finished :D

In reality, it has to be done sometime so the drop in work isn't a problem.

I never tout for work, I get enough by word of mouth, so If I wanted it I could probably go and find it fairly easily.

Every now and again I add a bit to my portfolio, the pirate stuff has been the latest and I'm working on a connection between the photography and bushcraft but that will be a while happening.

The problem is the paperwork, I just wish it would do itself, which is daft of course.

I have got a trip or two planned for when this is done, depends on the weather as they are photo trips as usual. Possibly up in the highlands in January.
