It’s disappointing that no one has had to fight a bear yet. I was very hopeful on that polar bear series. Big disappointments indeed

Independent thought is great too. But sometimes communicating those thoughts aloud to other people isn’tIt’s disappointing that no one has had to fight a bear yet. I was very hopeful on that polar bear series. Big disappointments indeed![]()

Well, nobody can accuse me of being clingy for sure. But you'd be surprised by how many of my generation can't cope with an independent woman who knows her own mind. Generational differences i guess.I think that most women are independent now. Men don’t care and in my experience it’s just normal and accepted by them. But if you keep on squeeking all about it constantly then you are going to get push back. Just do it and not talk about it and all will be good. It’s not doing us any favours otherwise. Men don’t care. I don’t see them whispering in the corner about how scary and unattractive we are when we do things we want to do. It’s the clingy types that they don’t not seem to like.
This is it. You are not the only one doing it. There are loads of us. I was brought up doing it. Most women on here, if not all of them do the exact same thing. It’s kind of taken as the norm on a bushcraft forum that we do. I spend most of my nights in the woods looking at stuff and investigating. So people thought I was a bit psycho when I chopped heads off with a saw at the side of the road. And people get a bit freaked out when they come across me at night in the woods sitting there, or when I walk passed a group out of nowhere when they are getting p&@£@d in a clearing at midnight. I like being on my own as you see more stuff. You hardly ever see stuff when you’re with someone.Well, nobody can accuse me of being clingy for sure. My last bushcraft trip in March saw me coping with camping in storm dave and skinning squirrels. Not much fazes me.
Last camp out, no tent or hammock, just me, a groundsheet, sleeping bag, air bed(im old and creaky) and the stars. It's just a wonderful way to experience life.
I don't need to plug my hair dryer into anything when i go away, I don't own one!
My best trip was a week totaly off grid in January, in Sweden in a dry cabin. No running water or electric lights. In my 60s Most of my local friends thought I was mad and would not have even entertained the idea. Most trips are solo.
I was in 7th heaven.cooking moose stew, outside on a fire in -20 , in the pitch black birch woods was amazing.
I like to experience life. Not just witter it away .
I'll bushcraft all day long. On my own if I need to. I'd hate a push button life.

Having listened to Theresa Kamper’s experience on Alone, and messages from a friend involved in the African series, there are often legal challenges involved in hunting and fishing even in places with apparently huge resources. Seasons, legal methods, size limits and so on. It’s kind of depressing to think that even something as big as Alone can struggle (fail) to find a place where contestants can deploy a full suite of skills and truly utilise all the resources available.

For the right price. No questions askedMy Dad has forbidden me to get a Garefowl.
(searches for big seabird)
Know where I can get one?

I hope you pull this face whenever you tell people that story.people thought I was a bit psycho when I chopped heads off with a saw at the side of the road.

I lost my mom recently and I should have asked her so many things. How to be. She was smart. Off the scales smart. And it’s all lost now. Everyone finds this out. But we all think we have loads of time. We don’t. Time runs out. Fast.
I was sixteen and 3 weeks when I ended up alone with no parents, you have a great dad, your smart and independent thinking. You'll do just fine. You'll find those nuggets of woman's wisdom elsewhere. They won't be the same, but they will be equally relevant.Thank you Toddy. I will be OK. I have loads of things to be up to. And dad retired early this week as well. So he isnt going to get killed by any snakes or dodgy people when travelling to work now. I will nause him about all things.
Sounds like a non zero chance of decapitation at home though!Thank you Toddy. I will be OK. I have loads of things to be up to. And dad retired early this week as well. So he isnt going to get killed by any snakes or dodgy people when travelling to work now. I will nause him about all things.
I already have Homo sapiens skull.Sounds like a non zero chance of decapitation at home though!
Each other...Are they allowed to hunt? If not, what is there for food in the welsh wilderness?
