The heavy rain yesterday was a welcome change from several days of record breaking temperatures. Although I will admit to being a sun lover I took the opportunity to escape to the water and spent the days sailing around whenever I could find a breeze.

I sail in sheltered or close coastal waters and navigate where necessary by traditional chart and pencil, much to the dismay of my Techie son..
I do carry a GPS however, just in case I need to call for assistance from the Coastguard for others. There has been a swarm of RNLI call outs in this hot weather to Kayakers, Swimmers and a couple of Paddle Boarders who ventured beyond their capabilities. The GPS would allow me to give a precise location, rather than perhaps " About three quarters of a mile bearing 127 degrees from Skokholm Island..

Today was a day ashore, just a brief walk in the woods, which smell wonderful in the warm sunlight after the rain yesterday.

Big rafts of Water Lillies have opened on the Lake.

The Wild garlic has died back leaving it's lingering smell and the Hart's tongue Fern are flourishing everywhere. If you are lucky enough to catch the sunlight showing through them they look quite gossamer at times.

There are many Wild Flowers showing now in the wood, one I think that seems to be ruling the roost at the moment is Cranesbill which is alive with Bees. Three weeks to Solstice and the woods are full of summer locally.
