I am not knocking them, more a comment on landy ownership in general. I only had a defender for a few years but seemed to spend some time underneath it most weekends, fir one reason or another
Bit like all new relationships then.

I didn't mention that I went to the market and did a week's worth of grocery shopping and got two week's worth of cheese.Oh, that sounds fun.
Day off so I got a load of groceries and some odds and ends.
Shop right out of those handy sized dehumidifier pots...quite an idea in a static, I find.
Hmmmm ... that reminds me what an acquaintance said years ago, "One has to have three Jags to be able to drive one."I wouldn't be without one (in fact I have three!!)
You don't know him. He goes to a different school. It's always 'an acquaintance', or my friend down in the pub, or my brother's mate ...![]()
They're designed to run on Naptha, aka Aspen or Colemans fuel. Paraffin is a very poor subsitute to use in as they tend to soot up and don't give as bright a flame.I think they’re meant to burn the equivalent of white spirit. On the front it says “inexplosible a l’essence minerale”.
When you say Coleman’s, you do mean this, the fuel that’s similar to petrol, what I use in my Svea 223r? Thought I’d check before burning the old house down! They're designed to run on Naptha, aka Aspen or Colemans fuel. What I and most other lamp enthusiasts use as a replacement for naptha is brake and clutch cleaner which is easily sourced online
I did find that thanks, that’s where I got the white spirits from, the dictionary definition of mineral spirits (mentioned in the text) references white spirit.Think you'll find it also 'runs' on kerosene/paraffin/lamp oil. https://www.nationalmuseum.af.mil/V...-Sheets/Display/Article/601430/kerosene-lamp/
I see why a cap for the wick is necessary now, it’ll evaporate like nobodies business. I’ll have to rig something up. I got my Colemans off Amazon, not cheap…at all! They're designed to run on Naptha, aka Aspen or Colemans fuel. Yup, Coleman's and Aspen are both just about the same thing, a highly refined petroleum distallate. When you say Coleman’s, you do mean this, the fuel that’s similar to petrol, what I use in my Svea 223r? Thought I’d check before burning the old house down!![]()
I threw caution to the wind, put some Coleman’s in it, started it outside first and brought it in when all seemed safe. Must say, I’m very impressed- could certainly see me getting another so I can have a pair, one either side of the mantle piece.
