Good for you! I've seen one or two in operation over the years. Also owned and worked on a few Blake's power driven pumps of various sizes. It's amazing how much old kit is still in service in little brick pumphouses around the country... Always wanted a Hydram but what are the chances of ending up living somewhere able to use one!

Would be great for watering my allotment, but I believe they are rather expensive compared to an electric pump and rechargeable power station.

Run it into a big holding tank and use that for watering, ram pump will keep it topped up, and you can get pressure and speed from your header tank if you wish.
No ram pumps delivers large volumes, it is all about continual supply at low pressure over vast distances and uphill. The way the water shock mechanism works you physically can’t deliver high volume
Watched about all I could stomach of Survival Lilly's "Situation in Europe" videos. As someone with the most minimal of military experience, none of what she's saying is surprising or particularly concerning.
In short, militaries are preparing for war with Russia. - That's their job. Colour me shocked. I'd be more concerned if they were not preparing for war with Russia.
Ground war with Russia in 5-8 years seems possible but unlikely. Putin may be mad, but even he has to recognise that a war with Nato would not end well for him given how much of a kicking he's taking in Ukraine.
That said I'm sure comparisons can be made between now and pre war Europe of the 1930's.
Not sure I'll be building a bunker in my back garden though. Can't afford to.

A brand new replacememt of my No 1 is about £4,000 now. It can pump up over 10l/min over a long distance and should last for decades but it's still expensive. Even keeping my old one running would be expensive if I didn't have some old parts and didn't make my own valve clacks (big rubber washers that cost £90 a go!)
I'm not sure how long a very cheap one would last but you could make your own.
I'm considering a Papa pump as a replacement, worth looking at if anyone is serious about installing a ram pump. It will pump more water that we need, even with a large garden.

Ever since the reunification of Germany and the agreements made at that point , between the main players at that time NATO has expanded in a very Easterly direction like a franchise.
We meddle - we get involved politically and then bish-bash-slap - NATO.
There is a bit in Sun Tzu's Art of War about not pushing your opponent up against a wall or chasm as if you don't leave them space to pivot or escape they will fight back with everything.

Strange how they can't see the similarities.

Thank you Mac - genuinely appreciated. I posted that and that went back to work and part of me was somewhat dreading to come back as I feel abit like the boy in the Emperors new robes.
I do feel we are being purported about the reasons for potentially being led to a WWIII game of brinkmanship or chicken - And unfortunately , rightly or wrongly the Russians can really back down without losing access to a warm water port.

If a ground war with Russia would indeed happen, it would be initiated by the EU. I for one do not believe Russia has the military or economic capability to pull it of, even if Russia would gain anything worthwhile, considering the enormous effort and costs involved.
No, I think the EU is using Russia as a decoy boogeyman in order to implement their own dark schemes, such as total surveillance, CBDC and Stalinist policing actions, all the while completely ignoring, or maybe even supporting the barbarians within Europe's gates.
That is going to be the kicker. That is an unavoidable conflict.

Except that Russia already has a number of warm water ports on the Azov and Black Seas.
