Hi All,

I have just picked up one of these after lots of umming and erring and am very impressed with the build quality etc...

What i would like to know from any of you who have used one is whether it can be used directly in the flames, on top of embers etc...
I only ask as the locking mechanism is made of plastic and I wonder how this stands up to heat/flames.

My plan is to use it for cooking on an emberlit stove (which i expect will be fine) or hanging over an open fire (which im not sure sure about).

I am also wondering if it can be used as an improvised dutch oven having the pot sitting on embers and either reversing the lid or using the removable tray/plate to place embers in to heat from the top, has anybody else tried this.

Last question, can the plastic lock mechanisms be bought separately and is their a metal alternative.

Thanks in advance, Hamster

Very good pots, the lock is rubbish any how, I would bin it, you can use the pot on any heat source your gonna use to cook food on\in\over,

cooking bread on the lid, which is up side down on top of the metal plate, in the embers,

pot in the flames, I have removed the original bail arm and fitted a wire, makes it easier to pack,

You can cook with it on just about any type of heat source. I've used mine regularly in the fire and embers as well as on a gas cooker

As for the plastic clips, I dumped those as they melt and aren't really necessary for cooking with. All they do is hold the lid on when you've finished cooking.
