I'm looking for a spot to go and spend the night or weekend up near York. Obviously i live here, but so far i've drawn a blank. Dalby Forest which is fantastic doesn't allow over night camping (£7 to get in and they check all the car parks after "closing")

So any suggestions folks please.

Have you thought of Skipwith Common? Near wilberfoss IIRC

A teething baby, job hunting and replacing some kit got in the way. I did contact FC a couple of weeks ago and they haven't bothered to reply so the hunt is on again.

There are loads more forests around Dalby though, Cropton is bigger than Dalby, then there's Langdale, Boltby etc, surely these vast woodlands can hide a few of us !?!?

By the way I'm also a mountain biker and I know my way around Dalby very well, us MTBers are not to be afraid of ;-)
