My younger son lives in the Alpahurras. I can see why. He's looking forward to Christmas in England- it reminds him of why he lives in Andalucia.
Oh God yes ! Christmas in Italy, Germany and Spain has been a joy over the last few years, a holiday, not overdone, not weeks of consumer frenzy, but a day kept in proportion. I do think that everyone should experience December in another county, not the US, to see how badly we have it wrong at home.
