Well Tank you got my backside into gear mate new to me but old sewing machine and it works a treat. I won't hack you post with pictures I'll start a new one when I'm done thanks for the inspiration enjoy your evening.

That looks awesome. The wool smock is superb. I sold my Swanndri Bush Smock some time ago and a part of me wishes I hadn't..... seeing this now makes me think I could make one myself!

Looks great. Did you start with one of those military surplus blankets? I keep thinking about giving that a go, but as big as I am.... it'd likely take three blankets to give me enough cover! :D
 
If anyone could post a link to a pattern I, and I think several others, would be interested. Pros and cons and any advice would also be great.

It was a few years ago I made mine and can't remember where I got the pattern. I'll have a Google but it was basically for a hoody and I adapted it adding waxed cotton trim on the shoulders and to lengthen it.

Alternatively my partner is a seamstress and has said she would cut a pattern if provided with a garment to work from...or even possibly make it for a reasonable cost.

My OH and her sister can do the same for me.

I was hoping there were a few ready to go patterns out there for others to use, a bit like the mythical bushcraftUK pattern.
