Apologise for delay in getting these pics up, but it's been a very dry summer (worst drought in 70 years!) which made tracking very hard, coupled with hunters 'removing' several of my subjects So I had to wait for a new 'crop' to move in.
These tracks are 'mum' and what is probably last years offspring, there's a randy boar hanging around but he always seems to be a day or two behind the sow. I'll let the pics tell the story...
Start with the good ones first:
Even my grandmother could spot these!
Big Momma! Note the deep dewclaw marks. Direction of travel is upscreen.
They tend to use regular routes, especially when crossing open areas like roads, this is a typical crossing looking from the road up a small rise into the undergrowth:
With a detail of a footslip, not conclusive of pig in itself, but corroborated by consecutive prints
This is the classic "Rooting" pig sign that everyone will recognise, this is on the river flat
And a trap for young players... The pigs are hanging out with these guys
(Goats)
And a nice wallow from late last year before the ground turned to dust!
