Who Keeps a Journal

  • Come along to the amazing Summer Moot (21st July - 2nd August), a festival of bushcrafting and camping in a beautiful woodland PLEASE CLICK HERE for more information.
You know what, I've tried a load of times, but can never keep it up for more than a week or two. I keep a record of my herping trips, but that's because it's useful data I use in work too, so doesn't count.

I'm the same as Sam, I always take loads of notes on courses and demos so instead of having scraps of paper everywhere I had a lovely leather cover made this year. I add stuff to it as I'm going along too, just useful stuff to know and I'll otherwise forget.

Yep I keep one, useful hints like which wood burns best for cooking, for light, etc. Pictures of Leaves for Tree ID, recipes, knots just everything that you would usually find in the books, (with all the things you know you'll never use excluded :D )

It's not quite bushcrafty but I've started a journal of sorts for my daughter. It'll be full of life lessons, stuff I learned and may be of some use to her. I hope to include my memories and thoughts on whatever creeps into my mind. It's a bit morbid you might think as I'm writing it from the point of view that I won't be there....I want her to have something when I'm gone. Grim eh?

Call me 'Chuckles'.

I try but fail all the time, each week though we try to get the kids to write journals, works most weeks. Shelly does some scrap booking as well which keep a photo journal for the family.

I keep a notebook/journal of bushy and related stuff. I keep notes and bits of useful info as previous posters have said but I also do little sketches.

I'm not very good, but it's partly a method of forcing myself to be more observant of detail, as well as being drawing practice and is simultaneously a record of some interesting/unusual things seen that I might want to look into when I'm back home.

Photography is not something I understand or have any skill at.

I use the small-sized Moleskine.

don't know what the diference between journal writing and keeping a diary. i would say that i do the second.
i normally make a point of writing about a page at night just before i go to bed. its a standard small black moleskine at the moment
