Ok.....so i'm just confusing myself.

I've got the Swedish/Norwegian canvas packs and love them...but what I really want is the proper Duluth or Frost River Pack.

I've narrowed it down to either:

Duluth: Pathfinder (favourite Duluth), Wanderer, Rambler or Guide

Frost River: Timber Cruiser jnr or Woodsman

I want a pack that would be a day pack/weekender/general I like the idea of Frost River waxed canvas but cannot afford Duluth waxed...but love Duluth packs so it would be cotton canvas and dry bags!!

This is my quandry....which one????

Your thoughts.........

There's not much too separate them in terms of quality, I had both side by side in my canoe for a while.

From your list the Timbercruiser Jr would be my choice, I had it's big brother a regret ever selling it

Gotta say, i am with you there Mr man.
Also my main Exped pack.
Outstanding build quality.[/QUOTE

I have been trying to even find a decent picture of Rugged River packs for a couple of days, let alone find one for sale, seems as tho' they are so good that no one wants to part with them!

Incidently, where were the made....UK or USA?

If you've the time & want a look at the small(approx 35ltr) pack, & the large(massive !) one, go through my back posts, they both feature there. He did recently sell a new one on another site, although he ceased trading, i think he'd found the pieces cut out, so stiched them up & sold the pack.

Michigan USA I believe

Uk wasn't it Rich ??
Wasn't the Cat a member on here for a while ? 86inch or something?
I rang him up for chats and ended up buying the prototype Bushcraft expedition pack from him.
From what I recall, they could not make any money on the packs cosidering the cost of the quality materials they used.
Ring any bells?
My best.
Chris.

OK....now I see what the fuss is about.....that is a nice pack :)

How do the pockets attach? Do they use the leather straps?

I have considered getting the Frost River Woodsman Pack and then making a couple of pouches to attach to the straps and behind the 'D' rings to give the best of both worlds.

I also thought that i'd read somewhere that the Rugged River ones were made in the UK.
