So I got given this today, no idea what it is, no maker's mark anywhere,
As you can see the container is stainless steel, contains 2 identical items, oddly has a spring in the centre of each one.
Any ideas?20230303_173943.jpg20230303_173938.jpg20230303_173919.jpg20230303_173929.jpg

Looks like a film developing container to me. You wind the film into the spiral in a bag or complete darkness, and then add developer, etc etc.
That is definitely what it looks like to me. Used to develop and print my own film back in the day, though my tanks were plastic.

It is obviously a cinerary urn.
Made in Southwest Germany it lasts a bit longer.

Photographic film developing tank. The tank body could be useful for dry goods. They never sealed very well (work in the sink) and the spools might have very weak solder for heating.
I kept one to soup 9 x 6 cm roll film format in an adapter back for my 5" x 4" view cameras.
