What knot, and what not, to use!

Hi everyone

I have tried doing a forum search about knots but I keep getting an error page so please forgive me if this has all been done before.

Can anyone advise me as to a good set of knots to use for setting up a hammock and basha. I have used timber hitches for the hammock in the past because they are quick and easy and have used the same for the basha. Are there better, more secure fastenings I could use that are relatively simple?
