what height for an anvil?

I am finally going to make a base for my anvil, but what height should it be?

Simple answer is as high as necessary for you to work comfortably on the anvil

I seem to remember something like the anvil should be high enough to brush your knuckles when you are standing upright with your arms hanging loose at your sides though I may well be corrected there.

Make a test stand, start with "knuckle height" as suggested above and adjust till it works for you.
