As title please, unsure how to wash my swandri with, in case I shrink it or ruin the wool, I guess a cold wash but what kind of detergent / cleaner is best
Cheers
Bill

Never washed mine. Have had most for at least 5 years and have never needed it despite them being my go to clothing at most times. Mud brushes out when dry and I have so far not managed to spill anything on them that couldn't be wiped off quickly with a wet cloth.

I use pure liquid soap for all my wool - not much dearer than normal detergent and use in exactly the same way; I've just found it to be a little less harsh than detergent :)

Put mine through a cold wool cycle with a load of other wool stuff and the only soap I have which is sensitive skin non bio tablets and it shrunk down to about XS. Haven't stopped kicking myself for that one, as it didn't even really need a wash, there was just extra space so I chucked it in. Everything else in there was fine, only the swanndri shrunk.

Works for me. Wool wash cycle and hang up to dry naturally.

Shampoo, plain generic supermarket family shampoo. It's meant for hair, wool's just a kind of hair. Don't wash it hot, if you can soak it overnight and then simply rinse it out, give it a quick spin and then hang it out in the fresh air, it's sorted :D

reminds me of when my 1st missus washed and then tumble dried 5 of my Damart thermolactyl triple force vests, i worked outdoors in the coldest weather and they kept me really warm, after she washed and dried em, they went from XXXL to small enough to fit my 6 yr old son at the time.

I`ve learnt something in this post yet again.
Thinking of just getting the fabrize out and thats it, dont want to shrink it, and to be fair it doesnt even need a wash yet.
Thanks for all the repies,

Hand wash using soap flakes or wool-friendly detergent, widely available.

I have use the wool cycle too. Modern washing machines are very good in this respect.

One thing, if you're handwashing wash in warm water and rinse in cooler water but not ice cold straight from the tap. Wool does not like thermal shock.
