What Caterpillar do these belong to?

Hi, after being out and about earlier today I came across these (what I think are) butterfly/moth eggs? Can anybody tell me if I'm right or not - as I have very little knowledge of insects. If possible which species or genera?

As you can see they were on a beech leaf, on the top side. Hopefully they are clear enough.

They belong to a gall midge called Hartigiola annulipes that laid its egg in the leaf surface in the spring. If you open them up you'll see a tiny little grub in the bottom of them.
