My Maxpedition proteus turned up today :red: :red: :red:
Thing is its got me thinking , what can i put in it ?
I was thinking of using it as a minimum kit that would enable me to stay out overnight doing bushcraft and compliment it with the contents of my bergan .
So the question is " What do you keep in yours "?

I have the Snugpak Response Pak which is very similar to the Proteus. Possibly the best £15 I spent. I guess men need handbags too. :)

There are various threads on British Blades about this. I usually carry mine as a day bag, without (intentionally) spending the night out.

Usually I have:
Waterproof (Craghoppers Pakka jacket plus or minus trousers)
Windshirt (Arktis, Pertex)
8x30 Russian monocular
K&M Matchcase/compass
Midge Repellent (not needed just now!)
Chocolate
Whistle (Perry or Fox40)
Inova 24/7 LED light
Vinyl poncho (£3, from Highlander)

For intentional overnights, the problem is the sleeping bag - you might get a Softie 3 or 6 in there, but it would be tight. I have a Softie 6 -if you want I could check it out.

One suggestion I have adopted is to carry a hot melt glue stick.

With that and a lighter you can do jury-rig repairs.

Just incase you're wondering, the long white thing under the zip ties is a hot melt glue stick, an idea I got from Narsil

I got mine by lurking in the Portabello road section at BritishBlades.
Reasonable (£34 pre-loved, but in as-new condition).

AFAIK you could get them from ExtremeOutdoorGear at £43.10 + shipping, I don't think Andrew at Outdoorcode does them, and, of course toolshop at 75 Euros(£51 or so) .

HTH HAND.
