So, @TeeDee , do I understand right that you mean the German and Austrian army wood handled ones with 1x folding metal part?

No, I have the Old wooden handled Austrian AND the Old wooden Handled German. I was interested in studying the locking mechanisms of both.

I've used differing Tri fold ones and they were all a bit rickety BUT if you can suggest a decent one I will be tempted to revisit it.

I usually don't use such tools since decades.

My interest comes more from a collectors point of view, as I still own nearly the complete Flecktarn equipment and understood that the stuff slowly gets expensive and rare.
