ateallthepies,

TW use huge settle tanks and pump the ozone through the water, which while suitable for large scale water processing is completely unrealistic for the single person in the wild.

the idea of distilling can only increase the levels if the source water including the lower temp chemicals is allowed to condense in your drinking water. Once a solution reaches it boiling point it is converted into a gaseous state! so if this gas is not allowed to escape, it becomes trapped in with the steam of your water.. and then is condensed with your water, which is now slightly less than you started off with, due to some loss in the process... so now the concentration is higher..
Allowing time for the lower temperature compounds to effectively 'Burn-off' or in this case evaporate. BEFORE you start collecting the steam to condense, will partially remove them from the equation. I say partially as factors like the boiling point of water is effected by pressure, altitude, etc, and also there are compounds that are very very close to the boiling point of water and are taken up wit the steam....
The best method of water purification is in fact to use multiple methods, as NO improvised methods will give you a 100% clean solution.
