Hi wonder if someone can help me out,
I bought some decent midland walkie talkies for camping and kids etc (xt-70 I think the model was) and basically never get a look in so bought myself a midland G9 pro so I can play too!

Had it on this morning and was picking up what I can only assume was ham radio (channel 4 on my walkie talkie)

Does this mean my G9 pro has been modded for more power? I know that it can have something done to it but I've had it from new and was assuming it was all UK legal

Only transmit power is limited, so it's likely fine if it is a PMR466 radio.

A ham radio could tune to channel 4 (446.04375MHz) and you might pick up that signal from a further distance due to the higher power and better antenna setup of the ham radio, but that would be illegal to do so on the part of the ham radio operator so can't see somebody transmitting their call signs over that frequency. What makes you think it was ham radio?
