I was wondering too...

I took one of mine to work and cut up old polypropelene strops on a plywood board.
Lotsa fun, but a gentle breeze blew the fibres all over the place.
I even tried a 200 grit edge and that was the best for aggressive slicing.

Come on folks...

Not had a chance to get out and play properly but mine has been on constant kitchen duty since arriving and can't fault it. Even SWMBO is using it by choice now (better monitor that situation before she gets too attached!).

Circumstances don't allow me a purchase at the moment, but having borrowed Fluffys green canvas micarta Serrata over a weekend, I will own one at some point. Excellent biltong slicer :)

The edge is thinner before sharpening, the grind is more acute, the thickness of the blade is 1 to 2mm thinner at the spine.
And they do cut a tad better due to less mass being sliced through the matter.

I also have a lower tipped guard area where the blade meets the handle, so safer as well.
