Bring back gaiters I say, and traditional Bishops, you can see my avatar is wearing a pair.

I find gaiters to hot on the lower leg. Only use them when necessary and the smallest versions as possible. Sometimes I find letting my lower trousers just dry while walking in the breeze just as easy.
