cast, setting, storyline, soundtrack, cinematography pretty much every aspect of shane meadows films are spot on as far as i'm concerned. this is england could be about a kid who lived on my estate, the attention to detail is fantastic. if i didn't know that shane meadows grew up in the next county and a few years before me i'd swear that i recognised nearly all of the characters. it's one of the few films that i've seen that has made anything like a decent attempt to explain skinhead culture to people. this is england, and to an extent a room for romeo brass do make the point that just because someone chooses to shave their head, tattoo themselves, wear bovver boots, and listen punk/ska/roots etc. it doesn't instantly follow that they must be a neo-nazi boot boy. which is nice, especially if, like me, you choose to shave your head, get tattooed, wear big scary boots, and listen to punk/ska/roots!
cheers shane, i'm not a neo-nazi and i'm really not too keen on the idea that people might mistake me for one, thanks for going some way to clarifying the situation for us all.
