With wellies, get some long socks, put them over your trousers and then turn them over the tops of the boots.
Works perfectly for me. Same with my walking boots.
Over the trousers and fold over the top of the boot. Job done!

The military has you covered. Trouser twists.

I found a roll of that stuff in the shed last week, complete with a bunch of the screw on tightener thingies, and wondered what on Earth I was going to do with it......
if you got a roll of it you can make a hat clip. good for windy weather. xxx

Get the army desert socks best socks ever. Never slip down warm and comfortable
I tried these for the first time yesterday and they worked a treat. Problem solved! :)
My other socks are probably slightly too large in size and too thin a material. Not a problem when wearing shoes or trainers and walking around normal places but not right for when climbing up steep muddy hills while wearing waterproof boots.

My life is now more complete and a little bit better than it was last week. Thanks to everyone for their suggestions (both the sensible and the entertaining ones). As Big Chris says in Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. "It's been emotional."

I tend to wear Thorlo military socks with wellies. They are long socks and don’t fall down.
I have some soft shell fleece trousers that bunch up easily in wellies. They seem to push my other socks down.
