Does anyone know if "Tinder Quik" is allowed in hold luggage when flying by air?

If you put it in a zippy bag with other stuff that won't draw attention from the guys running the x-ray scanners you should be okay. The TSA allows Zippos in checked bags as long as they are in proper packaging. So those should be okay.

Honestly I don't think there would be a problem.

Wax coat, I suspect.
Save your money and just knock up a few and stick them in a first aid kit. (the one without the scissors )

I reckon it's soft cotton fibres that have been soaked in liquidised petroleum jelly, and then lightly twisted and cut into short lengths.
Those pull apart into a lightly waxy fluff (you don't need to use a whole twist to make fire) that catches the spark.
So, I reckon that a toilet bag with cotton wool and a wee tub of vaseline (like the lipsyl tins) and you're sorted I think you could slip the cotton twists into the tin or plastic tub no bother.
