I was given a wave for my 21st birthday (7 years ago) and it had been in pretty much constant use, the knife mechanisms had given way (don't ever try to cut through a motorbike helmet with one) and I'd broken 3 of the screwdrivers. A few weeks ago I finally managed to get my thumb out and send it back to Leatherman, told them what was wrong. Within a few days I had a letter back saying they were sending it back to the states for assessment, expect it back within 3 weeks.

Last week the knife was returned, or rather a knife was returned, brand new design, new leather case with a covering note saying that as per the warranty they had replaced the knife with the new wave as my one was no longer made, no quibble no worries just a new knife and case through the post.

Cracking service and thanks Leathermans.

I'm on my third now due to my own stupid fault of abuse to the screw driver blades. I was prying a paint lid off once and another time trying to open up a cd burner to retreve a jammed cd. I sent them back to whitby explaining what I had done and that it was my fault and twice they have sent me a new one in return with no quibble or charge.

25 year no quibble guarantee, you dont get this very often.

I carry mine everyday and only remove it when out for a night on the town, even then I carry a squirt on my keys.
I find I use it everyday even if its only to peel fruit or open packets.
If I lost it today I would buy another tommorrow.

Bodge:)

I'm tempted to get a skeletool for when I'm out camping, I can't carry a leathermans on daily basis (ie work) due to working in schools, at home though its normally on my belt.

There is a 'knifeless' fuse available (the blade is replaced by a file) which I got from the states for 12 quid plus postage. That might suit?

I've also a SOG/Harley Davidson tool that, like all SOG tools allows the blades to be swapped for others and did think about swapping out the blade on that one.

Think Wayland has mentioned this before.

You need permission, but it depends what you do on site.

At the moment it might not be a good career move.
