Not necessarily directed at you, I'm just amazed at the amount of energy that goes into talking about something that can be as simple as cooking some beans over a fire!

In that case I agree with you, lots of nonsense in this bushcraft stuff, but I enjoy the camping :)

for me its nothing to do with any romantic notion of the past, its about connecting to my suroundings, about being a very small piece of natures jigsaw, about giving more than you take, and not neccessarily material.
to become a part of my surroundings, i have to learn specific skills to enable me to do so. nowadays its called 'bushcraft'.
