Lol, the lightweight ethos has been a good venture so far, lots more DIY stuff to mess about with.

The big three is a good place to start .... shelter, sleeping bag/quilt and pack. If you can get each of those under a kilo each then you're off to a fairly good start.

To be honest mate lightweight gear is fairly cheap, my ULA pack was only a tenner more than my Karrimor Sabre cost me, 820g versus 2.7kg

Brilliant Rich. reminds me of finland in many ways. It makes the whole trip more pleasurable if you can get the weight down. I'm still working on it.
