Did anyone watch this?

It showed a football player running in one of the most extreme ultra marathons in the world. He had only 8 weeks to train. They covered 147 miles in 5/6 days over the driest desert in the world.

I found it very good as the footballer was suffering with a knee problem after day one and after day two he also had a suspected broken toe, yet he kept on going.

They said it in the program and I thoroughly agree "it is a tribute to the human spirit that he managed to finish". I also noticed that they had Mike Stroud as one of the advisors for the team and some of his incites as an extreme sportsman himself were very good. :biggthump

A saw a couple of the programs. The adventure race one was interesting. The competitor had guts. However the guy that "attempted" to climb Everest should never show his face in public again. OK a bit harsh but he never made a serious attempt.

I hadn't seen it before and this guy put body and soul into finishing, after day 2 he was beginning to look really knackered.

I should of mentioned that he was not running alone, he was running as part of the GB team, the other 2 guys had years of experience in this event, I believe that they came in third, which if you have ever run with even suspected broken toes you could appreciate was pretty good going.

The other thing was that the second to last day they did 2 marathons, before the last shove on the final day :-)

Yep I saw it and enjoyed it. I had my doubts about him finishing but a big well done is deserved. I couldn't have done it!
I was looking at it from a sports science view point most of the way through. The psychology and nutritional side of things were so important but not really mentioned.
To me, this was like most people's idea of Ray Mears Bushcraft series - touched on the subject but not really enough detail. Designed for the general audience not the specialist fans.

This series of programmes have been extraordinary, I'm really annoyed I missed the last one!

Crikey don't people do the maddest things!!!

Madder than making a bow drill set even though they've got a lighter in their pocket!

He he, we're not all so mad after all!

Stew, I know what you mean about the psychology and nutrition, but to be fair, if they had gone into this as well the program would not of fitted into the time allocated spot that it has.

Mike Stroud did mention on a few occasions that Kenny had a chance to back out (with grace) when he had injuries and that it must be so very tempting just to quit. I think there was probably a lot more on this side of life, but was edited just due to time.

Kim, I hadn't seen any of these before, if I had I would of recorded it and sent you a disc with it on, sorry.
