I needed to use up some annual leave so headed to the woods to practice all of my new found skills from reading Ray Mears - Essential Bushcraft.

Someone had got there early to practice their skills too. I think they hadn't read the page on leave no trace.

Longest wait for a cup of tea ever! Lost my tea bags, milk and tent in the dark. Never bothered reading Night Navigation in Ray's book.

After a call out to Cambridgeshire Mountain Rescue, I was safely back at base camp. But my food was gone. The camp had been raided. I had heard strange noises earlier like roaring?

I resorted to the survival methods as taught by Ray. It tastes like water, but blander.

I suspected from the carnage of the last buschraft camp and last night that there may be a big cat on the loose. So delved into Ray's book and started tracking.

Drawn by the aromatic aroma of a fresh one laid, other, more sophisticated squatters come and investigate. Rated 7/10. If Mr Fox had bothered digging a latrine like these sophisticated squatters do, it would have been 10/10 all the way to the bank.

Having my trail cam sprung, a Big Cat on the loose and mammals that have disgusting fetishes, I beat a hasty retreat to the nearest civilisation for safety and to replenish the lost carbs from existing solely on tree water. Ray Mears - Bushcraft book never mentioned any of this would happen to me?!

The badger sure ain't camera shy - was it looking for a directors job maybe?
Just delete the img tags as staticflickr puts them in automatically
