What a shame they chose to do this during the traditional 'Closed Season' when you can't fish the rivers.

My shooting mates little lad is now old enough to sit still and listen and we'll be getting him 'hooked' this Summer via the traditional method .... A size18 hook, single maggots, and more minnows and little dace than he's ever imagined

Take him spinning for trout, the rivers are still open for such.

Anyway, he won't even need a licence until he's 12, and then it's free! (12-16yr 'junior' licence).

If you can find a trout in the upper Great Ouse or the Nene you's a better fisher than me laddy ! Having spent 6 years as the Head Bailiff for one of the local clubs I know that stretch of river
