Got home now and on closer inspection I think it actually may be 50L at a push. Its newer than I thought too. Date stamp is 1992 but cant quite make out makers stamp:- its either Ritto or Bitto.
Dimesions:-
Front of pack--- top opening 56cm wide, base 38cm wide. Base to opening height 54cm.
Side depth --- Top opening 23.5cm, base 15cm
Frame--- side bars height 59.5cm, middle cross bar to base 54cm, width 31cm

No worry mate I just spotted it and thought someone might want it ...

Cheers Cliff ... and it's now sold :D

Dimesions:-
Front of pack--- top opening 56cm wide, base 38cm wide. Base to opening height 54cm.
Side depth --- Top opening 23.5cm, base 15cm
Frame--- side bars height 59.5cm, middle cross bar to base 54cm, width 31cm

Can you confirm the dimensions please??? My measurements on the frame are roughly the same as yours ~ but some seam to seam appear to be a whole lot smaller on mine :dunno: . Plus you've got the top opening as 25cm / 10" wider than the pack ~ that's 10.5cm / 4" wider each side than mine is :yikes: . Depth of pack, top and bottom, are also a bit different ~ roughly 7cm ...

The dimensions you give give for the top opening makes for a girth of 159cm (62.5") ~ 51cm (20") greater than mine. I measure the girth of my 70 at 123cm

Height at the rear:

Having looked at the pics of the way you measured yours that's where the confusion has come from I didn't measure mine in the same way you did.
here is how I did it first:

-one.jpgtwo.jpg

Here is the same way as yours front panel width and height:- W34.5cm H46cm

three.jpgthree close.jpg

four.jpgfour close.jpg

I have just measured the circumference of the opening with a measuring tape and I get 109cm.

Just measured the depth again at the bottom and the top of the side panel:- bottom I got 14.5cm and top of panel I got 23cm

Ah, I wondered whether you'd flattened it out to measure ~ including the dimensions of the side panels threw the measurements out :D .

If the lid on yours is the same as the one in my first pic then I reckon yours is indeed an LK50 (could be wrong, wouldn't be the first time  ). I reckon the main compartment is definitely short of the 50L ~ but that the volume is based on the lid being intended / designed to be angled up and act as compression rather than sitting flat and flush with the top of the main compartment (hopefully that makes sense  ).

Pity the makers mark isn't legible ~ but it's good to get a lead to another brand into the mix :D .

uk mainly in the Midlands though
It has arrived and got it :) It has been repaired and resewn from many cuts in the lightweight canvas, but structually looks sound. I will measure it up and post up the dimensions. I am starting to sort out the kit to go into it and looking at a few things....more to follow
