Will be interested to see the splicing tool - can't remember how I made mine now - think I used the inside of a ballpoint pen. They've held up so far anyway... Do you have anything you can use as a safety bead to stop them pulling through? You can always tie a bit of paracord round it. Question is, once you've made them, will you trust them with your weight? I wimped out and bought 3mm D12 - the Amsteel they were recommending over on the Hammock Forum is thinner. Anyway, they're fun to make and use
Must remember the gear hammock as it's likely to be wet. Could always just keep my little girl's tent (she's coming on Friday afternoon), although it is purple with pink stars. I'll chuck my forge in to, as I mentioned - can't find a fan for it at the moment but if Bill remembers his airbed one, we should be fine... if the rain holds off!
