Survival Knife simple "DIY"

I made one of these survival knifes over the weekend and looks quite good !

It is made from a hacksaw blade and can be made to whatever size and spec without any difficulty. I used a sander for sharpening but looks like a good wee toy .

are you going to tape the handle or something, looks a bit spoikely to use like that but nice idea.

That's nice a bit of paracord for a handle and that's useable.

just a standard hacksaw blade about 12mm wide and cut to the length I wanted .

as for the handle I was thinking of buffing off the teeth on the handgrip and possibly slipping some heatshrink tubing over it and heating it on just so it stays lightweight ....

any other ideas of material for handle ?

These crop up on here occasionally.

I would suggest using a thicker hacksaw blade - 2mm or so would make a much better knife.

wrap the handle in paracord and you're sorted.

old inner tube, lashed at both ends, this could then be used as tinder when really wet.............

I have done similar with "sawzall" blades. They are a little meatier.

good quality bow saw blades should be made of good steel so maybe another option if you grind off the teath.
