If we are to make some tar for the pole ends, we will need to get a large metal paint tin a 5l one or bigger to use as the cooking vessel and a smaller one for the collection one underneath. Does anyone have anything we can use? It will need to be taller rather than it is wide so the tar drains out better.

When I have done this before a 2.5 l paint can full of birch bark yielded about a mug full of tar, so the bigger the better really.

I can bring a 5 litre metal paint tin or as I have said before I actually have 5 litres of bitchumen which you can have. Also have the fire drum/incinerator if its required.

Hi, how's the river level, going down i hope. Looks like they had a nice day today hope they have a nice meal tonight. I popped into my local army navy store today and found some 24hour rat packs for £10 each bought 3. I've opened one and was quite surprised how comprehensive it was.

Thanks for a great weekend chaps, as usual, fun and good company. Thanks to Kev for the map reading and navigation skill share. You were great Kev, and thanks for the Hexi stove.

Colin.

It was a great meet, Kevs skill share was excellent and even got to practice in adverse conditions.

Cant wait until the next one.

A great meet shame the others did not make it, and I only made the Saturday, but still a great time was had. The weather did not really effect us too much, OK a bit windy for the bearing exercise , but still saw a nice heard of about 12 Fallow deer :).

Thank you very much for the Skill Share Kevin, it was a well put together presentation, and I know from the comments from those that every one benifited, a great success.

The trip to the pub was a nice break from the mud and the food was great, one pub I would recommend for a bite to eat :
