Shafts were Richard Head longbow shop and the points and fletchings were targetcraft I think, all up with postage about £40.

Ill try those when I get to build a full set.. untill I do, periss will have to do as I can buy one off each there as I need them..

The shafts are Port Orford Cedar (which isn't actually a cedar its Lawsons Cypress) I was going to get some Boyton pine ones but these were a few £ cheaper and for my first go I don't want to spend big.

This is one target I have glued to the lining then cut out, ive punched some holes along the edge so I can peg it to the backstops.

That looks good Steve, I ve got a hare and a Pheasent if I remeber right, may find soemthing to stick them to .

I did wonder about sticking the Peasent to plywood and the straping it on a branch for Catty Pratice, we could then move it and try and see how far wel could hit it from....

Whats the max distance a catty can shoot and kill a pheasant at ? The only thing will the plywood is it may break or crack from the hole and then fold over, but well worth a try.

I would of thought 15 to 20 yards to get a shot that would kill, but that would depend on where you hit it and the size of the shot you used as well as the Catty.. also feather does tend to act as a bullet proof vest and absorbs a lot of the shcok needed to kill. I know I have heard of people taking game from 40 yards...........I am not surea bout that.. lol

Myself I think that killing with a catty is last resort of killing game... if you got a gun/airgun use that..... no point of just wondeing an animal, also you got to think is the thing is sitting in a tree and the liklyhood of hitting a twig, as you know a small twig can deltct an arrow..

Only a bad hunter will take a shot from a distance taht may just injure thier prey..... unless in a real survial need that is urgent.. if you know waht I mean

A head shot on a bird would do the trick at most distances up to about 35 yds, the same goes for an air rifle, as a body shot will not be successful
