Interesting site. I'm going to have to rethink on the food. Biltong/jerky maybe Chorizo, dried peas, beans or lentils, Bannock ready mixed. All sounds good.
Thats the way I been thinking, I been looking at my kit/food over the last couple of meets trying to get things right..
Bannock, I have not made for years as Ive just used bread as one or two night bread lasts, or I go pitta bread, I dug out my old recipe for bannock from years ago, and started using it again.
It comes out like a cake type bread, nice texture..
1 Cup Flour - I use SR
1 Tea Spoon Baking Powder
Pinch of Salt
1/4 Cup of Powder Milk
2 Desert Spoons of Suet...
I put that lot in a Self seal bag, then just add water and mix in the bag... squeeze out in to billy lid and cook
I also carry Spices, Herbs, Dried Fruit to chuck in to it..
I took some Billtong, dried sausage (Deowars), cheese, coffee grinds, tea leaves, Raisins, Dried Apricots, Cranberrys, Sugar, Powdered Milk,
I will not bother with the powdered milk, and will change modern day sugar, proberley for honey on the challlange, and will add dried apple..
Apart from that will use my Checz bedroll and my Canvas Poncho Tarp, and an canvas rucksac,
Water will not be a problem as we can use the tap in the farm yard
