The amount of soot varies with the size and type of wood, and how carefully I chip it. Pine can produce almost none, but ash and hardwoods tend to smoke well at start-up. All fuels, once well lit don't produce any smoke or soot.

I tend to carry a small bag of paper pellets, as these don't soot or smoke at all, even from start up.

I haven't timed my honey stove but I tried making a wood gas stove out of tin cans and it wouldn't even boil one mug of water in a lidded pot. No Idea what I'd done wrong

You got any pics or video TeePee?
Do you know any places to find muffin types fans apart from computers?
I've figured out a way of making tlods but they're useless without a fan atm :)

Good to hear that you got your head around the tlud/tlod configs, slammer.

Maplins sell them-the evercools are the ones to get.
30 to 40mm seem to be optimum sizes, but only if they shift enough air.

The top evercools move more air at 6 volts than than the cheaper ones do at 12 volts.

Small centrifugal fans are potentially much better, but more expensive and hard to get in smaller sizes.

The real daddies are sunon ip rated fans. They are dirt and waterproof. Hard to find in the uk though.
