That's a beauty. It must be wonderful being able to reach back through history and touch something shaped by himan hands what, may six, seven thousand years ago?

I am absolutely stunned. Beautiful piece, such craftsmanship. The thing is that he is crying out for an as authentic handle :) Would be a great challenge to try and match his work with your own handle.

I am sure there is a guide online for handling a stone axe somewhere with a native wood that would have been around in the Neolithic period such as ash or rowen.

If you do give him a handle, be sure to post some pics :D

Well spotted! Very fine tool, probably too fine to be a working tool - archaeologists reckon they were mostly ceromonial, or like a badge of office the same way as a mace often is now.
